Here is a basic example:
A student may look at the letter e and vocally produce /a/, the "phonetic sound" most often heard for the letter a. He may see the letter a and vocally produce /u/, the "phonetic sound" most often heard for the letter u. These subtle inconsistencies cause a problem with decoding ability in reading.
There are solutions. Resolve to end your student's struggle with reading for good.
